Take a infant pant pattern. I believe I used the back section for all pieces of split pants. |
Extend the crotch by an inch (red). |
Extend inseam an inch or so and waist by a few inches. ( I also extended the length of the legs as I wanted them to last longer) |
|
There will be 4 pieces that are cut from the same pattern piece. Cut 2 on the wrong side and 2 on the right side. |

|
Finish the crotches by turning the edges under to the wrong side. |
Pin the right an left sides over lapping. On the back the left side will overlap the right (right) and in the front the right will overlap the left (left). |

|
Baste the “wings” to form 2 pieces front and back. Also baste down about 1 ½ inches of the flap. |
Pin the side seams (left) and sew them (right.) |
Pin the inseams (left) and sew (right) then reinforce th open crotch by sewing across the inseams. |
|

|
Fold the waist over to make a casing. Sew leaving opening for elastic. |
Insert elastic. Sew ends together. Close opening.
|
Finish casing, hem legs. |

The left leg of the pants will nest in the right leg. |

Finished pants. This pair were made extra large on purpose so baby could grow into them. |
Wear with underwear as regular pants or without for split crotch pottying pants. |
